About Us
In August 1962, Art Strong laid the foundation for what would become a
vital part of the Dalhart community. United Supply began as a modest
welding shop, offering a few steel items for sale. With a vision of
craftsmanship and service, Art built a business rooted in quality and
reliability.
Nearly two decades later, in March 1980, Gary Usher saw the potential in
Art's venture and purchased the store, officially taking over on April 1
of that year. Under Gary's leadership, the business continued to thrive
as a welding and manufacturing operation. As time passed, he expanded
the storefront and introduced a wider range of resale products, adapting
to the evolving needs of his customers. A key offering in those years
was oilfield pipe, which remained a staple until acquiring it became
increasingly difficult.
The story of United Supply is not just about its owners—it's about the
dedicated individuals who have contributed to its success. In 1995,
LaQuita joined the team, proving to be an invaluable asset. Her
dedication and leadership propelled her to managing the store, and in
2007, alongside her husband, she took on additional responsibilities in
accounting, management, and purchasing.
As the business grew, so did its identity. Initially known as Dalhart
United Supply, the company took a significant step forward in 1999 when
it incorporated, adopting the name United Supply Inc. With a growing
team and increasing inventory demands, the store underwent two
expansions, ensuring it could continue providing top-quality products
and services to its customers.
Through decades of hard work, adaptation, and dedication from countless
team members, United Supply stands as a testament to perseverance and
progress. What began as a small welding shop has flourished into a
respected business, serving the needs of its community while staying
true to its roots.
